The Mandate
We Are Selecting
Exactly 16 Athletes.
We are not building a mass-market weekend club. We are building a high-performance ecosystem for the serious amateur competitive polo player.
The inaugural summer cohort operates out of premier estates across the UK. The infrastructure is secured. The arena is prepared. The games are umpired by some of the best HPA coaches and umpires ensuring fair, flowing and safe game play for all.
If you want to test your riding, your strategy, and your actual skill as an equestrian athlete — step onto our pitch.
“Once these 16 seats are filled, the gates close until next season.”

Frequently Asked Questions
The League & Membership
Are professional players allowed in the league?
Champion Pride is proudly a 100% amateur league. We built this format specifically so passionate amateur players can experience true peer-to-peer competition. Without professionals dictating the pace and the plays, our members get to be fully involved in the game, test their own horsemanship, and enjoy the sport they love alongside like-minded peers.
What exactly is included in the £1,500 Founding Membership?
We believe in complete financial transparency. Your £1,500 flat fee covers your entry into a structured 4-tournament summer league. It also includes complimentary access to the Sovereign System Module 1 — our CPD-accredited course on equine welfare and biomechanics, included as a benefit to support your development.
Do I need an existing HPA handicap or polo club membership to apply?
Not necessarily. We want to remove the administrative friction from your season. If you do not currently have a home club, your Champion Pride league fee includes a complimentary polo club membership (e.g., at Rutland). This allows you to easily complete your HPA
handicap test and gives you free arena membership for the year. You will simply need to cover your direct HPA governing body fee (approx. £187) for the season.
Schedule & Logistics
Is this a weekly commitment, or a structured tournament?
Champion Pride is built for the serious amateur, which means we operate a structured, competitive league rather than casual weekend chukkas. The season consists of 4 dedicated tournament weekends (8 matches total) running from July through September. You will play a Group Stage and advance to the Finals, competing for the Champion Pride Cup. It is highly organized, meaning you only need to travel for your official tournament dates.
Are hirelings included in the £1,500 fee, and how do I organize them?
Your £1,500 fee covers your complete league entry, tournament organization, Rutland Polo Club membership, Umpires and the Sovereign System Module 1 CPD.
Hirelings are priced separately at standard local rates provided for by HPA official hirers. To make your experience seamless, we partner with host clubs that have excellent, high-quality hireling strings on-site.
You can simply arrive, lease directly from the club’s providers per chukka, and play. To learn more about pricing, Contact Us.
What if the host clubs are far from me?
We deliberately selected premium host clubs with excellent infrastructure and accessibility (including direct train routes from London). Because we operate on a 4-tournament structure rather than a weekly club schedule, travel is minimized. Furthermore, with on-site hirelings available, you can travel light, step off the train, and step straight onto the pitch.
Safety & The Sovereign System
Is it safe to play without professionals managing the pitch?
Safety and welfare are our highest priorities. All matches are officiated by HPA-licensed umpires who hold full authority on the pitch. We also provide every member with complimentary access to the Sovereign System Module 1 — an optional CPD course covering equine welfare and biomechanics — to support confident, responsible riding from day one.
What is the Sovereign System Module 1?
It is our flagship, CPD-accredited educational foundation. Before getting on the horse,
Module 1 teaches the science of equine neurology—how a horse processes signals,
manages stress, and learns. By understanding the horse’s brain, our players develop softer
hands, a more balanced seat, and a deeper connection with their mounts, elevating both
performance and welfare.
