Our Welfare Commitment.
Non-negotiable standards for equine performance, recovery, and welfare.
Our Pillars
Welfare is not an afterthought at Champion Pride — it is built into how the league runs. All horses and players operate under official HPA rules. Our Sovereign Welfare Mandate sets out the additional standards we hold ourselves to, on top of that foundation.
Champion Pride Polo League operates fully under Hurlingham Polo Association (HPA) rules and governance. Every match is umpired by HPA-licensed officials, and all clubs, hirers, and coaches in the league hold current HPA registration. The standards set out below are the additional steps we take within that framework to promote the highest possible level of equine welfare.
Neurological Periodization
We give horses proper recovery time between matches — both physical and mental. Our chukker limits and match scheduling ensure no horse is ever pushed beyond a healthy level of exertion.
The 30-Day League Reboot
Every horse entering the Champion
Pride Draft Pool undergoes a mandatory metric-driven assesment. We track physical symmetry and behavioral consent before they ever see a mallet or a match day.
The Hardware & Tack Audit
We prohibit restrictive or uncomfortable tack. Wide-treed saddles and uncranked nosebands are required. Our horses must be able to move freely through the neck and shoulder — no tension, no restriction.
The Thinking Culture.
